Wrightsville Beach Museum Of History

Special Events and Historical Literature

Special historically themed events are hosted by the museum to both raise funds and promote awareness of the history of the Wrightsville Beach community. Lumina Daze held annually each August includes old-fashioned activities for the entire family, and dancing to classic big band tunes. Participants in Lumina Daze also have the opportunity to tour historical themed areas and watch a movie while sitting along the sand, just like visitors did in the early years of the town.

A historical work of non-fiction, "Tide and Time - A History of Wrightsville Beach, NC" written by Virginia Kuhn, can be purchased either at the museum or through their website. The book offers a multitude of photos and stories about the history of the beachfront community.

A Personal Touch

The love which goes into preserving and enhancing the museum is evident when speaking with museum staff. Nearly once a week someone stops by or calls about donating an item. The community and the museum share a close relationship, and continue to preserve and cherish the history of Wrightsville Beach.
