Our top Southport rental home tips:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Southport. To get the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Wrightsville Beach attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Wrightsville Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the perfect rental home:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. The Blue Dog Cottage has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
