Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to book a Wrightsville Beach rental & When to go:

  • Summer time is high season in the Wrightsville Beach area. Booking in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Wrightsville Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. The Sandcastle: Upscale Large Oceanfront Home with Private Pool and Elevator has 11 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a particular Wrightsville Beach attraction you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
