Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the largest rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Wrightsville Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wrightsville Beach area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best vacation rental in the Wrightsville Beach area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. 1505 Mackerel Lane - A wonderful 6 bedroom interior island beach home has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
