General summary;

"Sand Dollar Suites" suite 1 managed by Dale and Salt Water Real may be just the home away from home you are looking for! "Sand Dollar Suites" suite 1 is a one-bedroom comfortable condo that's just steps from our sandy shores, a short walk to downtown CB, and all the sea sights, sounds, and experiences you are looking for!

The space;

Pleasure Island has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation destination for the entirety of the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Because we are in fact a true island, “overcrowding” isn’t in of itself a giant issue. Limited parking and available housing will always create a cozy “max capacity” that will always provide a comfortable (and healthy) occupancy level and ambiance that, despite the “hordes”, will always leave ample complimentary space for those looking for a bit more “distancing” and privacy. It’s also what is making the real estate market shoot through the roof! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The suite is located in the heart of Carolina Beach and walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, eateries, and local stores of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or event boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is close by, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s. We welcome you to sit back, relax and savor yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for! * (due to Covid, please be prepared for periodic deviations from our usually scheduled events).

These suites are a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world appeal, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everybody! Each suite has its own distinct traits, quirks, and characteristics. Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while visiting with us on our Island!

The entry to this 1 bedroom/1 bath suite opens up into a sizable, freshly furnished family room combined with an open dining area and completely equipped kitchen (stove+oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is outfitted will all of the basic cooking and dining silverware one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home. Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen. *It is important to note that it is NOT an owner’s job to provide personal family items for guests. From toiletries and linens, to community food stuffs and condiments, It is ESPECIALLY important during this current climate for any used items of another to be discarded before our new guests arrive to ensure an optimally hygienic space

Most bedroom beds There's ONE QUEEN/ONE FULL futon bed here) consist of a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition bed because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge. The pullout couches that can fit/support a memory foam pad are also accommodated with such! (Always bear in mind that a pullout couch/futon for a longer term tenant may/may not provide ideal support!) Remember, linens are NOT supplied in order to keep our prices low. You can bring them from home with you, buy them locally, or rent them (refer to Low Tide Linens & Units). If renting, please let Low Tide know that you are a guest of SWRE as they will provide you with an additional 10% discount!

There is a 50” Roku Intelligent WIFI TV’s (with approx. 25 channels through the Charter Spectrum cable application) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and appreciate some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Bring a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or other such casting device if looking to ensure all of the tech amenities from home are available during your stay!

We equip each suite with its own books, games, and misc. accessories to help cover the basis for our guests to enjoy themselves in rain or shine. Sometimes however, these items are removed from the suite and not replaced and we do not realize it (tsk tsk!). If you notice something we’ve bragged about missing please let us know!

Guest access;

The SUITE: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a respective deck, patio, or balcony.

PARKING: Suites 1,2 and 3 will have access to (1) ONE parking space in the front of the home. Oversized cars may have a difficult time (lengthwise) parking without being very close to or slightly extending into the street. Any additional community parking spaces would have availability on a first come fist serve basis. We do not recommend any lot or proprietor in particular.

Neighborhood overview

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island.

The building itself is one row away from the ocean, and two rows in from the Intracoastal Waterway. The property is set four blocks from down town Carolina Beach with its stores, activities and dining. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday nighttime, Movies at the lake each Sunday nighttime, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning. Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and visitors all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun.

Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Perhaps more calming and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

Getting around

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has a number of vendors (such as Pleasure Island Units @ 2 N Lake Park Blvd Carolina Beach NC 28428 (golf carts) and Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 107 Charlotte ave Carolina Beach NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

Other things to note;

•Salt Water Real Estate has partnered with the absolute best vendors our Island has to offer to help ensure guests can spend more time appreciating themselves and less time researching! Our partners include the Tony Silvagni Surf School for professional surf lessons, bicycle, umbrella, and chair units, Salty Dog Yoga, Squared Away Cleaning and Maintenance, TNL Kleans, and Low Tide Linen Units who provides all guests of SWRE an added 10% off. Our partners support guests of Salt Water Real Estate with the highest caliber of local services for extremely competitive and oft discounted pricing. They all contribute to the “Salt Water” experience and we <3 them for it!

•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways. Please smoke well away from any SWRE property unless willing to risk the potential loss of deposit or more.

•Linens (sheets, towels, pillowcases, etc.) are NOT part of the suite rental. Pillows and basic comforters ARE supplied. Please refer to the linens chart supplied in the booking site description section for a unit’s bed sizes and plan in advance accordingly. We partner with “Low Tide Linens & Units” for any guests looking to rent a linen package as opposed to bringing or buying your own. They will deliver directly into the suite in advance of your stay! Mention that you are staying with SALT WATER REAL ESTATE and receive an additional 10% off of any rentable items!

• SWRE contractual peaceful hours begin at 9:00pm EST. Town ordinance may allow more latitude with regards to noise (11:00pm) but our expectations are to help ensure all guests, locals, and neighbors alike have an enchanting experience.

•NO BBQing on ANY decks or porches. This is a humongous fire hazard and is fineable by the town (as is removing batteries from any smoke or co2 alarms). We work extremely hard to keep all of our guests safe, and sometimes that takes teamwork!

•Please always consider TRAVEL INSURANCE from your respective booking site or vendor to help protect your costs in case of inclement weather or last-min. travel complications (court, illness, etc.). These items are NOT returnable scenarios unless the property itself is compromised. If that does happen, we will do our absolute best to find you alternative housing.

Wrightsville Beach rental booking tips and tricks:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Carolina Beach. To get the best value, shift your family's Wrightsville Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and choosing your Wrightsville Beach vacation home:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. \"Sand Dollar Suites\" suite 1 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Wrightsville Beach vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your family.
  • If there's an individual Wrightsville Beach destination you crave, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests.In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
