Strategies for getting the best Bald Head Island vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Wrightsville Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wrightsville Beach area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Welcome to High Tides and Good Vibes has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
