Tips for getting the best Oak Island rental home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Wrightsville Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Wrightsville Beach area:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Southern Marsh has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
