Booking the best Oak Island vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Wrightsville Beach area. To book the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Wrightsville Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Wrightsville Beach area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the best rental home:

  • Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. See Otter: Beachwalk cottage in East Beach overlooking the marsh of Davis Canal has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • If there's a particular Wrightsville Beach destination you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
