Locals Family Diner

Southport visitors who are in need of a strong cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast or lunch to start their downtown exploration will find everything they crave at the centrally located Locals Family Diner. Featuring a wealth of crowd-pleasing breakfast and lunch staples, as well as a prime locale just a few blocks away from the downtown waterfront, this laid-back eatery has plenty of classic southern fare that’s sure to appease a big appetite.

The breakfast menu is nicely varied, with a big selection of “Rise and Shine” egg platters, pancakes, French toast, Belgian waffles, breakfast sandwiches, and house specialties, like Eggs Benedict and Fish and Grits with fried flounder. The lunch menu is just as varied, with a big focus on seafood which includes a variety of seafood platters, (which can include shrimp, flounder, oysters, scallops, and deviled crabs), as well as seafood sandwiches, like a shrimp or oyster Po’boy. In addition, there are plenty of land lover options, including burgers, BBQ, and southern hot dogs with mustard, chili and onions, and a “Dinnertime Favorites” section with heartier meals like grilled or fried pork chops and hamburger steak with grilled onions. Basic but filling, Locals Family Diner is a good family spot to fill up on home cooking before exploring the town.
