Locally owned and operated Tour Old Wilmington shows visitors a unique side of the historic port city, as they are transported back in time by a costumed guide who will breathe life into the ancient buildings and cobblestoned streets that call Wilmington home.
The walking tour begins at the corner of Market and Water Streets, and from this launching point, your guide will start sharing stories of the Victorian Era, the Civil War, and a myriad of sea tales, folklore, and local legends. Along the way, you’ll amble past the Cape Fear River, as well as three of the most historic homes in the city. The downtown streets will come to life as your guide explains the development of the historic region, and from Victorian costumes and customs to the legends of pirates, patrons of all ages will be fully engrossed. The tours are particularly kid-friendly, ensuring that even the youngest members of your party will be fascinated with learning about the roots of the historic port city. A highly ranked and popular tour since first launched in 2009, the Tour Old Wilmington tour will give new visitors a first-hand look into the centuries of history that this legendary coastal community is known for.
