Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to book:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. \"Sunny on Second\" is a pristine, newly-built home a private pool and elevator and is just a 2 minute walk to the beach! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
