Part of the Coastal Plain League, this collegiate summer baseball league plays close to home in the sprawling and accommodating Legion Stadium, and promises plenty of world-class fun that sporting fans of all ages can enjoy.
The Wilmington Sharks were founded in 1997, and have won the Petit Cup championships in both 1998 and 1999. With a full season of games held at the homegrown Legion Stadium, (also known as “The Shark Tank,”) spring and summer visitors can usually find a game night or afternoon to attend during their stay. The stadium is accommodating, with plenty of sunny and shaded seating and concessions, and the team hosts a number of special themed nights, which can include events just for kids, discounts for military members and other special groups, and other fun ballgames that coincide with contests, prizes, or even fireworks. A great option for a family-friendly outing that’s close to the heart of the downtown area, a trip to see the Wilmington Sharks play will make any summertime visitor a lifelong fan.
