Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

When to visit & When to reserve a Southport rental home:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To get the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wrightsville Beach area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking the best Wrightsville Beach rental:

  • To start, have your family decide on trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Rivers Edge 223 at The River Hotel of Southport has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure no damages are attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
