Oak Island rental home booking tips and tricks:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Barrycuda: Private Pool and Hot Tub - Ocean View, West Beach Home has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If there's a certain Wrightsville Beach beach you crave, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
