Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to your budget:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summer time is high season in the Wrightsville Beach area. To book the best rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Wrightsville Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Choosing the best rental in Oak Island:

  • Select dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Waterway Haven: Family Friendly House Overlooking Intracoastal Waterway has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

More considerations:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
