Finding the best vacation rental experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to book:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in Oak Island. Book your Wrightsville Beach rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Wrightsville Beach area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Wrightsville Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose the best rental in the Wrightsville Beach area:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful, 2nd Row, Ocean View 3 bdrm-2 bath Condo\/Sleeps 6\/with Elevator has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's an individual Wrightsville Beach destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
