Strategies for getting the perfect vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Wilmington. Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Wrightsville Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Narrow your Search:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Historic Colonial in the Center of Wilmington has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
