Welcome to Anchors Away, our canal-front townhouse featuring handsome sunset vistas overlooking your own boat down below. Walk a short block to the Periwinkle Public Beach access for some sand and surf. Then, return for drinks on the back porch overlooking the Carolina Beach Canal and watch the sun go down. Appreciate meals at home in our entirely equipped kitchen, or take a walk to the Carolina Beach Pier for drinks and food at the Low Tide Tiki Bar. The Seawitch is just a bicycle ride away for the best live music on the island, and there's plenty of room in our garage for your bicycles!  Tasteful furnishings keep the whole family in comfort with plenty of room to sleep 8. Our condo community boat dock was just rebuilt in Summer 2023, and includes water and power at the slip. Bring your own hose and power cord. Meet your boating friends at the close by dinghy dock, the Carolina Beach Marina, or  the Carolina Beach Mooring Field, all located in the canal for a day on the water. If you aren't bringing a boat and merely want to fish the Carolina Beach canal, you'll have fishing access from the new dock as well. Anchors Away will have your whole family appreciating both the sound and the surf alike.  The Snows Cut Wildlife Boat Ramp is the closest public put-in. Sea Breeze Boat Storage is also a good source for local boating logistics. Please call Sea Coast Units at Carolina Beach for contact information.

Canal front/boat dock/gazebo, 30' boat slip, 10' beam width.  Copy of boat insurance must be filed with Sea Coast when using the dock. #8 is the assigned slip.

Nearest Boat Put-In is at the Wildlife Ramp into Snows Cut, just across the canal. Telephone our management office for details.

In response to increased incidence of credit card fraud, a valid government photo ID will be required for every reservation. A signed rental agreement is required: accepting House Rules on any online travel agency requires reading and acceptance of our rental agreement.

Arrival/departure:

Summer Check-ins (June-August) begin at 4pm and are guaranteed by 6pm

Off Season Check-ins begin at 3pm and are guaranteed by 5pm

Check out is by 10 AM.

We adhere to this policy so please do not arrive early early or plan to delay your departure.

- Free cancellation within 48 hours of booking

- After 48 hours of booking and more than 60 days out from arrival, a full refund will be processed less a $300 cancellation fee

Discover aquatic wildlife and vegetation at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher or savor a calming ferry ride across the Cape Fear River to a cozy little shopping town called Southport. Take a trip back in time at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site and Museum which features live oak covered trails and bunkers from the American Civil War. Stroll through the marsh to visit the home of the famed Ft. Fisher Hermit. Or wind down with nature at our two state parks, sure to provide a memorable experience with hiking, fishing, and water activities such as paddle boarding and kayaking and search for a Venus Flytrap which is native to NC only. As one of North Carolina's most undeveloped beaches, the island offers a unique opportunity to see many diverse coastal wildlife, including pelicans and loggerhead sea turtles, in their natural habitat. Strategies for getting the perfect rental experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • To book the largest rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Wrightsville Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Wrightsville Beach area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself.   • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
